Certificate Program in GIS

Welcome to my Penn State World Campus Education Page. I'm currently enrolled in the Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems and if all goes as planned I will roll that into the Masters of GIS Program. I have been working in the GIS field  professionally since graduating  from Christopher Newport University in 2003. While at CNU I received a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Environmental Science. During my coursework at CNU, I took "The Environmental Application of GIS" which first introduced me to GIS.  I currently work for The Virginia Department of Transpotation in The Transportation and Mobility Planning Division as a Senior GIS Analyst. Prior coming to VDOT I worked for The Chesapeake Public School System in The Planning and Development Department as an Intern then as a GIS Analyst.

Professionally, my interest include web/application development as well as  database design. I enjoy solving problems with GIS that would otherwise be less obvious. I also have an interest in linear referencing systems (LRS). I enjoy the creativity involved with cartography as well.

Personally, my interest include a wide array of hobbies and past times. I enjoy most outdoor activities. On the weekends you can usually find me on the local golf course or fixing up my house. I have recently found running quite enjoyable and am hopeful to complete a 10K in the next few months. I also enjoy managing my personal web page that I host on an old pentium 4 desktop pc that I converted to a dedicated web server.
